Before you cast off
Verify the operator’s exact meeting point, boat transfer plan, arrival window, capacity, sleeping arrangements, water, power, ice, cooking setup, and what is supplied.
Monitor marine forecasts, wind, thunderstorms, tides, and local advisories close to departure. Conditions can change quickly across shallow, exposed water.
Plan for sun protection, drinking water, food, rain layers, medications, charged communication devices, lighting, and any personal fishing or safety equipment you need.
Cellular coverage may be weak or unavailable in remote areas. Before departure, confirm communication and emergency procedures with your operator, monitor marine weather, carry required safety equipment and leave a float plan with someone ashore.
